Chemistry
Department of Chemistry
Department of Chemistry is established in 1960. The department of chemistry is one of the leading department in the college located in science wing. We offer undergraduate and post graduate programs in chemistry including B. Sc., M. Sc. and Ph. D. We have Analytical Chemistry and Organic Chemistry post graduate courses. Our curriculum is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in chemistry, as well as hands-on research experience. The total permanent faculty in our department is eight while nine are on clock hour basis (CHB) who are dedicated to teaching and research. Our staff members provide administrative support and are always happy to help. All faculty members in our department are highly qualified and some of the faculties having more than thirty years teaching experience. Some of the faculty members are on university administrative bodies like Management Council, Academic Council and Chairman of various bodies, Board of Studies etc. They are also engaged in designing B. Sc. and M. Sc. Curricula. We have five non-teaching staff (Lab Assistant = 01, Lab Attendant = 04) having excellent communication skill and work capacity. The faculty of our department is actively engaged in research and extension activities. We have highly equipped five laboratory and well-furnished research laboratory. The research environment in our department is excellent and our department is actively engaged in research across a range of area, including biologically active heterocyclic compounds, synthesis of metal complexes, solvent extraction, Catalysis, Metal Organic Framework (MOF) etc. Our faculty members are leading experts in their field and have published numerous research papers in top-tier journals. In research laboratory six students successfully completed their Ph. D. degree and five students are currently working for Ph. D. under the guidance of faculty. Many of our alumni have secured significant positions in academic and research institutions as well as in industries and administration. Alumni have also developed a continuous pool and linkage with department through guest lecture series.
