Department of Physics at Shri Shivaji Mahavidyalaya, Barshi, established in 1960, is renowned for its academic excellence and robust research focus. The department has been offering undergraduate programs since its inception and added a postgraduate program in Physics with a specialization in Nanophysics in 2018. Since 2011, the department has also been conducting a Ph.D. program, nurturing advanced research and innovation. A key strength of the department is its state-of-the-art laboratories, equipped with advanced instruments and setups for various chemical synthesis techniques, including Chemical Bath Deposition (CBD), Spin Coating, Successive Ionic Layer Adsorption and Reaction (SILAR), Spray Pyrolysis, Electrochemical Synthesis, Sol-gel and Hydrothermal Synthesis. These synthesis methods are actively utilized for fabricating nanomaterials tailored for diverse applications such as supercapacitors, gas sensors, water splitting, and dye-sensitized solar cells. The faculty members of the department are actively engaged in cutting-edge research, particularly in the synthesis and application of nanomaterials. Their work is supported by modern equipment and facilities, fostering both academic growth and impactful research output. Collaboration with national and international institutions further enhances the research ecosystem.
